Winter is here, and it is the best season to wear rich, warm perfumes. Cold air holds fragrance close to your skin, so oud, incense, amber, saffron and tonka last longer and smell deeper than they ever do in an Indian summer. The question is which ones are actually worth your money in 2026.
After more than a decade of reviewing perfumes on the Frags Talk YouTube channel, Kanchan Patel picked 5 new winter perfumes for men that get noticed, last into the next day on clothes, and smell far more expensive than they cost. And there is a bonus: a ₹599 winter perfume that gives the feel of an ₹18,000 niche fragrance.

Why your summer perfume does not work in winter
In heat, fragrance evaporates fast and loud, which is why fresh citrus and aquatic scents feel right in May. In winter, the opposite happens: perfume evaporates slowly and sits closer to the skin. Light, fresh scents can disappear in an hour. Heavier notes such as oud, frankincense (lobaan), amber, vanilla, tonka bean, saffron and leather need that cold air to shine. That is why every pick below is built on warm, woody or resinous notes.
1. Ajmal Barakah: a fresh take on oud
Ajmal Barakah has been one of the most talked-about Indian-market releases of the last six months, and it was on Kanchan's wishlist for a long time. It comes in a small 50ml bottle, but as he says, "chhota packet, bada dhamaka".
How it smells: a slightly skanky, animalic oud from the first spray, cleaned up with lily of the valley and a soft, diluted jasmine. Peach and green apple sit quietly inside the florals and come through over time. The base is thick, mysterious oud.
Performance: loud projection for about 2 to 2.5 hours, noticeable to others for 7 to 8 hours, and still on clothes the next day.
Buy it if: you already love oud. If you are new to oud, try a sample first.
On Fragstalk.in: in the same video Kanchan also recommends Ajmal Oud Nirvana 100ml EDP (₹1,449), a stronger take on the Gissah Imperial Valley style with nagarmotha, oud and leather, a "burning oud" that gets you noticed at weddings and parties. Start with the 10ml decant for ₹340. If you want a similar vibe with more polish, Rasasi Hawas Fire (10ml decant ₹594) shares a lot of the same character.
2. Rayhaan Vantage: the beast-mode winter perfume
Rayhaan launched Vantage recently. Kanchan first tried it in Dubai, and it has finally reached India. It is inspired by a well-known, expensive Amouage fragrance, and it is one of the strongest performers on this list.
How it smells: a sharp spicy opening that settles in 5 to 10 minutes into frankincense (lobaan), dry woods and a hint of leather. There is no oud at all. The incense gives it a cozy, slightly balsamic, dusty, aromatic feel.
Performance: about 2 to 2.5 feet of projection, a strong scent trail, and close to 24 hours on clothes. The next day it still smells freshly sprayed.
Buy it if: you like spicy, woody, incense scents and want one perfume that lasts all day in the cold.
Shop: Rayhaan Vantage 100ml EDP (₹3,049) or the Rayhaan Vantage 10ml decant (₹450).
3. Mykonos Untamed: the safe, playful daily winter scent
Nobody is talking about Mykonos Untamed yet, and that is exactly why it made this list. It is not as heavy as the others. It is playful, easy to wear, and still feels warm in winter. The bottle has a striking fingerprint design.
How it smells: inspired by Byredo Bal d'Afrique. It opens with blackcurrant and a fresh citrus touch, then dries down into soft woods with a cashmere, woollen-fabric feel, a tiny bit of suede, a hint of vetiver and green. Later, a light amber, vanilla and almost coconut-like praline sweetness appears. It is slightly unisex, so men and women can both wear it.
Performance: with 8 to 12 sprays, loud for 2.5 to 3 hours, noticeable for about 7 to 7.5 hours, and a soft woody trail on clothes the next day.
Buy it if: you want one winter perfume for college, office and daily wear that nobody will find too strong.
Shop: Mykonos Untamed 100ml Extrait de Parfum (₹3,899) or the Mykonos Untamed 10ml decant (₹599).
4. Al Majed Oud Noir: for real oud lovers
Al Majed is a Saudi brand that fragrance fans in India are going crazy about, and Oud Noir shows why. Kanchan layered the 15ml perfume oil from the gift set with 5 to 10 sprays of the perfume, and the scent was still around his clothes two days later. A blotter he sprayed 5 to 7 days earlier still smelled fresh.
How it smells: burning oud with a bakhoor feel, balanced with raspberry and fruity notes. Orris (iris) floats through the whole scent and spreads far in the air. The base is leather and high-quality Saudi-style oud.
Performance: beast mode. Use a light hand, especially if you layer the oil.
Buy it if: you love strong oud and want to be noticed at winter weddings.
Shop: Al Majed Oud Noir 150ml Parfum (₹4,999), the Oud Noir Gift Set with 15ml perfume oil (₹6,399), or the Al Majed Oud Noir 10ml decant (₹533).
5. French Avenue Marmara: the hero of this winter
If you only pick one from this list, Kanchan's vote is Marmara. He first wore it about two and a half months ago and has been a fan ever since. It is inspired by Amouage Purpose 50, a fragrance that costs many times more, and gets around 90% of the way there.
How it smells: frankincense and lobaan with an amazing sandalwood combination, vetiver, sharp green notes and thick resins. It feels cozy, balsamic and slightly airy, with a foresty edge. It is complex, and it keeps changing on clothes through the day.
Performance: around 12 sprays lasts into the next day. Loud for about 3 hours, fills a room when you walk in, and leaves a scent trail behind you.
Buy it if: you want a must-have, compliment-getting winter perfume. It is strong, so start with a 10ml decant. 10ml gives you 10 to 15 wears, enough to know if it is for you.
Shop: French Avenue Marmara 100ml EDP (₹4,137) or the Marmara 10ml decant (₹610). Stock is limited.
Also worth trying: Swiss Arabian Incense 01 Extrait (10ml decant ₹1,200). Less frankincense, more spice, with woody notes and a tonka-vanilla sweetness. It sits about 70% close to the same DNA and then goes in its own direction. Top-notch quality.
Bonus: the ₹599 winter perfume that shocked us
Yes, a budget pick that holds up. God Concept Saffron & Tonka is from an Indian brand, costs just ₹599 for 100ml, and gives the feel of Born to Stand Out Drunk Saffron, a perfume that costs around ₹18,000.
How it smells: a boozy rum opening, then saffron and tonka bean sweetness with lovely woods and a praline effect. Wait 5 to 10 minutes and the rum calms down. After about 30 minutes it turns into chocolatey vanilla, tonka and nutty notes. A safe, crowd-pleasing DNA.
Performance: good projection (1.5 to 2 feet) for the first 1 to 1.5 hours, noticeable to others for 4.5 to 5 hours, and 7 to 8 hours on clothes. Very good for ₹599.
Buy it if: you are a college-going guy or want a date-night winter perfume on a tight budget.
Shop: God Concept Saffron & Tonka 100ml EDP (₹599). From the same brand, God Concept Ginger & Green Tea (₹599) is a great daily and gym scent, inspired by Louis Vuitton Imagination.

How to choose your winter perfume
- Love oud? Al Majed Oud Noir or Ajmal Oud Nirvana.
- Want incense and woods? French Avenue Marmara or Rayhaan Vantage.
- Need something safe for office or college? Mykonos Untamed.
- Budget under ₹600? God Concept Saffron & Tonka.
- Not sure? Buy 10ml decants of two or three first, then the full bottle of your favourite.
Tips to make winter perfume last longer
- Spray on clothes as well as skin. Wool, jackets and scarves hold scent for days in winter.
- Moisturise first. Winter skin is dry and dry skin eats fragrance. An unscented lotion helps it last.
- Layer an oil or attar under the spray, as Kanchan did with the Al Majed Oud Noir oil.
- Hit pulse points: neck, behind the ears, wrists and inner elbows.
- Do not rub your wrists together. It breaks down the top notes faster.
